Gregsons Auctioneers were recently featured on PerthNow.com.au showcasing an upcoming bridal dress clearance auction being held, check out the details and links below!
“As the old saying goes – if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
But, those behind a wedding dress sale which could see some gowns snapped up for less than $10 insist this is the exception to the rule.
In what may be a dream come true for brides on a budget, a Perth auction house is selling hundreds of wedding gowns with a starting bid of $9 – and no reserve.
The dresses are from a prominent Perth bridal shop, which was damaged by smoke after a fire broke out in the neighbouring business.
After the store made an insurance claim for the gowns, some of which smelled of smoke, the dresses made their way in to the hands of auctioneers.
Dozens of wedding gowns from size six to 24 as well as flower girl dresses, veils, shoes and accessories will go under the hammer at Gregsons Auctioneers next week.
They include gowns from bridal labels Helen Fontaine and Drop Dead Gorgeous.
Gregsons general manager Jack Gregson said there appeared to be no damage to most of the gowns and many were in perfect condition.
And he’s willing to let them go for the minimum asking price.
“If it only gets one bid, it will be $9,” he said.
“This is an amazing opportunity for the people of Perth to secure their dream wedding dress at an absolute bargain price – which could be a much needed reprieve for some people in this current economic environment.”
Bids for the auction will close on Monday and Tuesday from 6pm.
The auction house will be open for gown inspections on Friday, from 9am until 4pm and Saturday, from 9am until 12pm.
But, there’s one catch. Mr Gregson said to avoid damage to the dresses there will not be the chance to try them on.”
